NEW: Distress Stains, Clear Rock Candy, and Dylusions

July 13th, 2012

Wrapping up our new product announcements, all of which will be making their debut in the Ranger booth at CHA Summer 2012 next week!

You know ‘em and you love ‘em as part of the Distress Crackle Paint and Distress Stickles lines, and now we are happy to introduce the three Metallic shades of Distress to the Distress Stains line as well!  Antiqued Bronze, Brushed Pewter and Tarnished Brass are now available as fluid metallic inks that will react with other Distress Stains and Distress Inks, to lend a vintage sheen to your projects.  Apply layers of Stain to achieve a more saturated color, or use it lightly for a more subtle effect!

We are also thrilled to announce that Distress Stickles in Clear Rock Candy will now be available in a 1.1 fl. oz. jar complete with a built-in brush!  Now you can slather Rock Candy Stickles all over your projects for a coating of nostalgic shimmer.  And that’s not all…

We announced our new Stickles Dry Glitter earlier this week, and Distress Stickles Clear Rock Candy will be available as dry glitter as well!  Perfect timing for all of those holiday decorations and projects on your list, as well as for home decor and mixed media arts and crafts!  Distress Stickles Dry Glitter works awesomely with the new Ranger Sticky Embossing Powder and Inkssentials Wonder Tape, too!

We have some amazing new additions to Dyan Reaveley’s Dylusions line, too!  First up is her brand-new how-to book, “My Creative Journal Journey.”  If you’d love to try art journaling but aren’t really sure how or where to start, pick this book up and be inspired by Dyan as she guides you through her creative process and inking and painting techniques.  Full of color photos and step-outs, it’s the next-best thing to having Dyan by your side!

When you’re looking for the perfect journal to ink up after being inspired by Dyan’s book, look no further than the new Dylusions Creative Journal!  This journal is absolutely perfect for the art journaling techniques you’ll learn from Dyan’s book, and it features a combination of manila and white matte cardstock pages (64 unlined pages in all) along with a sturdy chipboard cover and a string envelope attached to the inside front cover.

And what better way to accent your art journal than with some brand new Dylusions stamp and stencil designs?  Dyan has added four new whimsical, hand-drawn holiday designs to each collection, with the stencil designs available in both 9″ x 12″ and 5″ x 8″ sizes.

For more information about Metallic Distress Stains, the new Rock Candy Distress Stickles and the latest additions to the Dylusions line, please check out their official press releases!

Ranger in Somerset Studio Jul/Aug 2012

June 26th, 2012

If you haven’t checked out the July/August 2012 issue of Somerset Studio just yet, you might want to pick it up.  Inside, you will find an eight-page feature on the Liquid Pearls and Stickles Designer’s Challenge entries displayed in the Ranger booth at the CHA Winter 2012 show!

Each designer was given an identical paper mache dressform, and was asked to use Liquid Pearls and Stickles to decorate it.  Beyond that, the possibilities were limitless!  You’ll definitely want to read this issue of Somerset Studio to see what eight of our designers came up with, to read about their creative processes, and to come away with some inspiration for using Stickles and Liquid Pearls in art projects of your own!

Ranger’s Easter Egg Designer’s Challenge! Day 4

April 6th, 2012

This week, we are presenting the results from Ranger's Easter themed Designer's Challenge: we gave craft eggs to some of our favorite designers and crafty employees, and asked them to decorate the eggs for Easter using Ranger products.

Tim Holtz:

Tim's steampunk egg began as a paper mache egg, which was covered in pieces of Metal Foil Tape.  Texture and holes were added, and then the metal was inked with Alcohol Inks using Cut n' Dry Foam.  Finally Tim burnished off the inks to create an industrial look, and the idea-ology gears were added as a finishing touch.

Alain Avrillon:

Ranger's Sales Director and Extreme "Stickler" Alain Avrillon dipped a styrofoam egg in Waterfall Stickles, and then used Multi-Medium to glue on a bunny made from UTEE and Heat It Inks.  (There is a video on the Ranger website that shows how this adorable bunny was made.)

And for those of you who can't get enough of Alain's Extreme Stickling antics, we will be presenting a brand-new installment of the series on Monday, so watch this space!

We at Ranger hope you all have a hoppy Easter and Passover weekend!  Enjoy!

Ranger’s Easter Egg Designer’s Challenge! Day 3

April 5th, 2012

This week, we are presenting the results from Ranger's Easter themed Designer's Challenge: we gave craft eggs to some of our favorite designers and crafty employees, and asked them to decorate the eggs for Easter using Ranger products.

Debbie Tlach:

Debbie made this stunning Russian-style egg by applying Claudine Hellmuth Studio Black Gesso to a carvable egg, and she hand painted her flowers with Studio Paints, accenting with Perfect Pearls and Stickles.

Bonnie Egenton:

Bonnie started out with craft foam and cut out egg shapes.  She ran them through the Vagabond machine in Embossing Folders and gessoed them, before painting with Studio Paints and Liquid Pearls. She then formed the eggs into a wreath by gluing them in a circle with Multi-Medium.

Patti Behan:

Patti gessoed a Styrofoam egg and then painted it with an Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabber.  The cheerful idea-ology Foliage accents were colorized with Vintaj Patinas.

Only one more day of Designer Eggs to go!  But don't crack under the pressure, there's plenty of time to be inspired before Easter!

Ranger’s Easter Egg Designer’s Challenge! Day 2

April 4th, 2012

This week, we are presenting the results from Ranger's Easter themed Designer's Challenge: we gave craft eggs to some of our favorite designers and crafty employees, and asked them to decorate the eggs for Easter using Ranger products.

Jenni Bowlin:

Jenni painted wooden eggs with her Malted Milk Acrylic Paint Dabber, and accented them with colorful butterflies.  The butterflies were made by mixing various reinkers with water in the Mini Mister and giving them a spritz.

Terry Horvath:

Terry started out with a styrofoam egg and paper mached it with Glue n' Seal and Tissue Tape.  She then gave it a wash of Antique Linen Distress Stain and used Picket Fence Distress Stickles to add some sugary sparkle to her flowers.

Wendy Vecchi started out with a paper mache egg and used the following to make her magnificent creation:

If you are still scrambling, trying to come up with some ideas for Easter décor of your own, never fear!  We have even more egg-citing creations to share tomorrow!
