Greetings, artists! Wow, your art is incredible. We love, love, love seeing it. It is a privilege. Keep sharing, keep creating! Here’s challenge #9. You have until March 14 to show us your artwork. Be sure to review the rules and guidelines below. It is super important that you share your art on your personal social media channels so it shows up in our hashtag search.

#ShowUsYourMEdia | www.rangerink.com

Create a piece of art about who you want to be. Are you already who you want to be? If not, what can you change in your life to become get there?

I think in many ways I am a late bloomer. Some of my greatest loves in life (art, scuba diving), I discovered in my middle-age. It makes me think about Grandma Moses. She started painting seriously when she was 78. 78!!!! And her work hangs in many museums in the world. See, it really is never too late.

I think I will forever be a work in progress. I never want to stop learning and growing. There’s still so much I want to do. That’s what my two pages are about.

Supplies used:

  • Dina Wakley Media Journal
  • Dina Wakley Media Acrylic Paint
  • Dina Wakley Media Washi Tape and Media Tape
  • Dina Wakley Media Stamps: Interesting Faces, Splatter Girl, Words in Faces, Contour Figures
  • Dina Wakley Media Stencils: Giant Funky Silhouettes, Spaced Dots
  • Dina Wakley Media Paint Brushes
  • Dina Wakley Media Clips
  • Dina Wakley Media Scribble Sticks
  • Dina Wakley Media White Gesso
  • Ranger Jet Black Archival
  • Idea-ology by Tim Holtz Plain Tissue Wrap
  • Fudeball Pen
  • Dylusions White Paint Pen

  • I hinged the tag on this page with white Media tape so you can flip it open to read the journaling behind it:

    Challenge Rules Recap (Updated 1/1/18)

I want to put the “me” back in mixed media. All art is personal, whether it be a card or an art journal page or a painting. Join me as we begin a series of monthly challenges and prompts that will fuel your creative spirit and help you delve into the ME of MEdia.

    Challenge Rules

  • We will announce monthly challenges on the Ranger blog on the third Thursday of each month.
  • Use at least one Dina Wakley Media product in your project. If your product is not obvious (like paint), please list the colors you used.
  • You can make anything you like—a card, an art journal page, a tag, a canvas, anything!
  • Interpret each challenge any way you like. You can be literal or you can use it as a springboard and see where it takes you. Let the challenge inspire you and stretch you.
  • Try to journal on your piece. Write your thoughts about each prompt. You can write a little or you can write a lot, but do your best to incorporate your thoughts and feelings into the piece.
  • When you complete a challenge, please share it on your blog and personal social media account(s) (Instagram/Facebook) with the tags #showusyourMEdia and #rangerink. When you share on your personal FB page, be sure to make the post public so that it shows up in our hashtag search. You can share in the art groups, too, but those posts don’t show up in the searches if the groups are closed or private.
  • We will do two random drawings each month for a prize. We will search the hashtag #showusyourMEdia on Instagram for one winner, and then on Facebook for the second winner. To be clear, you must use the hashtag #showusyourMEdia on either Instagram or Facebook in order to show up in the search and to be eligible to win. You have until the third Wednesday of each month to complete the previous month’s challenge.
  • We will announce the previous month’s winner AND the new challenge on the third Thursday of each month.

  • Note this challenge does not take the place of the monthly challenges we have in the Dina Wakley Media Tribe Facebook group. If you’re not a member of the tribe, please join us! Artists in the group post lots of cool art and inspiration.

Creativation 2018 | Quick Cure Clay, ICE Resin® and Vintaj Recap

    February 6th, 2018

It’s the last day of Ranger Recaps, but that just means that there is still one more day of fun! We’ve had so much fun sharing with all of you the photos and highlights from the 2018 Creativation Show, and hope that you’ve had just as much fun following along with us.

The show this year brought an exciting new product and a new way to clay! Quick Cure Clay is a revolutionary clay formula that cures in less than a minute with a heat tool, which means no need for a kiln. The booth showcased fun samples of 3D projects and jewelry creations.

The ICE Resin® booth housed many new products, including the new Rune Bezels, Jewelry Wires, new Opal colors, and new Lusters, which are specially formulated jewelry paint that are ideal for use on metal and to colorize resin. The show kicked off the first day with a class taught by the creator of ICE Resin® herself, Susan Lenart Kazmer.

Within the line were Hand Lettered Stamp Sets, Embossing Powders, Perfect Pearls, Medium Pens, and more. The Letter It™ line got a lot of attention at this year’s show with a Make It Take It project, a Creativation Innovations display, and live demonstrations of the products by Taylor Huizenga, the designer behind the stamp sets!

This year also brought a big launch for the Tim Holtz® Alcohol Ink line of products. With this new launch, we we’re excited to have the opportunity to participate in the Creativation Paint and Sip where artists could learn how to paint with Alcohol Ink while enjoying a glass of wine. The Paint and Sip was taught by Sharen AK Harris, a fine artist who excels in Alcohol Ink painting. The event allowed attendees to start with an abstract piece and during that time Sharen explained how Alcohol Inks work. Once everyone felt comfortable, Sharen guided them into creating a final work of art.

In addition to the Paint and Sip, Sharen AK Harris also taught an Alcohol Ink class, for those who wanted to learn more about the medium. As the class went on, students turned their abstract works into beautiful sunflowers. They also learned how to control the medium by using Alcohol Blending Solution and paintbrushes.
