February: New project, new videos, new tag… wow!

Hey everyone! Today is February 1st and we have a ton of stuff for you to check out today, so grab a coffee or your favorite beverage, get cozy, and prepare to be inspired!

First up we have an amazing Distress Marker coloring video from Tim Holtz. Ever wonder what the best way to store you markers is? How to get that cool blended look? Can you mix your markers with other Distress products such as Stains? All of your quandaries will be answered in this great video.

Once you watch that video and you’ve joined the ranks of the Distress Marker pros, it’s time to put your skills to work. Tim has just posted his February edition of the 12 tags of 2012. Take a look at a some of the techniques he used this month in this blog post, then try them for yourself. Here is a glimpse at what he’s doing this month:

Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2013 - February

Next up, we have this fun Love Bird Card by Claudine Hellmuth. This card combines Claudine’s stencils and paints to create a cute Valentine’s Day gift for that special someone.

Last, but certainty not least, we have an amazing Melt Art canvas project by Debbie Tlach. If you were at Winter CHA 2013 this year, you may of had the opportunity to make one of these projects in our booth. We thought this project was just too awesome to only show it at CHA, so Debbie made this great video showing you how you can duplicate this year’s Make It Take It at home!

  1. I really enjoyed Tim’s video on using Distress Markers. I especially liked the demo on blending out color on various surfaces. It really made the point well. This is one of those times when watercolor paper really rocks! Hope it’s ok to suggest that you might also like to check out VSN’s “Coloring In Stamped Images with Watercolor Markers” eArticle. I do a lot with Distress Markers in the article, including blending, shading and a technique I call “Double Distress Resist”: Distress Markers are great in so many ways!

  2. Those tips about strengthening or weakening the color are weakening my resolve to not dive into yet another collection of Distress products! Don’t know how much longer I can hold out!

  3. Wow – I love the look of the canvass. I am off to the store to buy some little canvasses so I can try this!

  4. Thanks for the distress marker tips & techniques on this video – I enjoyed the refresher. 😉

  5. Fantastic! This actually answered something I was wondering and also one of my fine tips was dried up! So happy to hear I am able to correct it! TFS

  6. THANK YOU for showing us different techniques to use our Distress Markers with. I might even buy more of them now, although the tip of my Antique Linen has gotten mushy and soft 🙁 So, nt positive I’ll buy more, but I do like the varied usage of them.

  7. Thanks for the videos. I love my new markers and I want to get the most out of them!
