FAQs

What is Perfect Medium, and do you need it to use Perfect Pearls?

Perfect Medium is a clear, sticky ink pad that acts as a base for precise placement of Perfect Pearls. You stamp or apply it where you want your shimmer, then dust the powder on top. Starter kits include powders, brushes and a Perfect Medium pad to make the workflow easy.

What is the difference between Perfect Pearls and embossing powder?

Embossing powder melts with heat to create a raised, glossy surface. Perfect Pearls are a dry pigment powder that creates flat, pearlescent shimmer without heat. Think of Perfect Pearls for shimmer and subtle color, and embossing powder for dimension and shine.

What is the difference between Perfect Pearls and Liquid Pearls?

The names are similar, but the products are very different. Perfect Pearls are dry powders that add flat pearlescent shimmer. Liquid Pearls are wet, dimensional paints that dry raised with a pearly finish. Perfect Pearls are great for shimmer washes, watercolors and subtle shine. Liquid Pearls are for dots, borders and raised embellishments; and when used with a brush, great for painting or watercolor.

What are Perfect Pearls pigment powders used for?

Perfect Pearls pigment powders from Ranger add a luminous, pearlescent shimmer to stamped images, collage elements, backgrounds and more. Formulated with a built in resin, they can activate with just a light mist of water or used with perfect medium, making them incredibly versatile for mixed media and cardmaking projects.

How do you apply Perfect Pearls powders?

You can apply Perfect Pearls with a brush, sponge dauber or your fingertip directly onto a slightly tacky or water-dampened surface. They also work beautifully whenused with perfect medium pens or stamp pad to highlight words or images, or you can use Perfect Pearls mixed into a medium or water to create a shimmery paint effect on paper, wood and other porous surfaces.

Can I use Perfect Pearls with stamps?

Yes, one of the most popular techniques is applying Perfect Pearls pigment powder over a stamped image that's been heat embossed, then activating with water to create a gilded, iridescent finish. They also pair well with Perfect Pearls ink pad for direct-to-stamp application.

Are Perfect Pearls powders permanent once applied?

Perfect Pearls adhere well to paper and mixed media surfaces, especially when sealed with a matte or gloss medium after use. For projects that will be handled frequently, applying a protective topcoat keeps the shimmer looking its best over time.
