Adirondack® Acrylic Paint Dabber Fourth of July Card By Patti Behan

Use Adirondack Acrylic Paint Dabbers to make a card that’s exploding with fun!

“Patti Splat” Technique Instructions
(1) For this technique choose two or three dabber colors for your background. A heavyweight cardstock or watercolor paper will give you the best results. (Note: Since this technique is a little messy wear a smock and make sure your workspace is clear and protected with a plastic tablecloth and Non-Stick Craft Sheet.)

(2) Load dabber top with paint by squeezing the sides of the dabber and pressing the top down on the Non-Stick Craft Sheet until the paint comes through the sponge.

(3) Spritz the top of the dabber with about five sprays of water using the Mister until it looks juicy.

(4) Pounce dabber firmly onto cardstock in one motion and a splat should occur. (Note: If your dabber top is not wet enough, the paint will not splatter. Practice on scrap paper before starting your project.)

Project Instructions
(1) Paint three Grungeboard stars with Silver dabber. Let dry.

(2) Cover painted stars with Silver Stickles.

(3) Cut one 4″ x 5¼” rectangle from White cardstock. Make background as described in the Patti Splat Technique using Watermelon paint, making random splats. Speed dry with Heat it Craft Tool.

(4) Repeat splat technique with Sailboat Blue paint, making splats in the white space. Let dry.

(5) Edge white cardstock with Watermelon paint. Set aside to dry.

(6) Stamp “Happy 4th of July ” on a piece of white cardstock with Jet Black ink, trim to 1”X 2”. Edge with Watermelon Dabber. Let dry. Glue crystals under sentiment with Multi-Medium. Set aside.

(7) Cut one 1¼” x 2¼” rectangle from Sailboat Blue cardstock. Glue to sentiment.

(8) Cut one 4½” x 6½” rectangle from Stonewashed cardstock. Glue white paint splatter piece ¼” from the top.

(9) Glue a 5½” length of red ribbon to the bottom of the Stonewashed cardstock. Glue crystals in the center of the ribbon with Multi-Medium.

(10) Cut a 10″ x 7″ rectangle from Sailboat Blue cardstock. Place cardstock on self-healing mat, score it down the center with the bone folder and fold it in half lengthwise to make the card.

(11) Glue Stonewashed/splatter piece to the center of the card front.

(12) Use Pop it Shapes to glue sentiment and stars to the card as shown.
