Letters Home Winter Tag By Roni Johnson

Make this “snow-covered” tag for holiday gifts using Enamel Accents and Adirondack Dye Inks.

Instructions

(1) Begin by stamping several large pine tree images across the upper portion of the tag in two to three shades of green Adirondack Ink.

(2) Continue stamping medium and small sized pine trees overlapping the large pine trees in additional colors of green Adirondack Ink.

(3) Stamp the boy/mail box image on the lower right corner using Jet Black Archival Ink.

(4) Watercolor the boy, mailbox and dog using the Niji Waterbrush by pouncing Adirondack Dye Ink on the Non-Stick Craft Sheet and picking up the ink with the waterbrush. The following colors were used for this tag: face, hands – Shell Pink; Coat & Hat band – Denim; Hat – Ginger; Dog – Ginger and Sandal; Mailbox – Cranberry.

(5) Tear a piece of scrap paper in half – this will become a mask to create shadows in the “snow” Place the scrap of paper at the bottom of the tag and rub Cloudy Blue Ink along the torn edge using the Ink Blending Tool. Continue to add several additional “shadows” in the snow by moving the scrap paper up the tag tilting and applying ink as you go. The final shadow should end at the tree line.

(6) Add color to the sky above the stamped pine trees by applying Denim using the Ink Blending Tool and Foam.

(7) Create piles of snow below each of the Cloudy Blue shadows with the White Enamel Accents. Feather the Enamel Accents out more and more as you work your way from the shadows’ edge. Add extra Enamel Accent “snow” around the boy and dog’s feet and the bottom of the mailbox. Apply a layer of Enamel Accents to the top of the mailbox. Let the Enamel Accents dry completely.

(8) After the Enamel Accents has dried completely apply a thin layer of Crystal Stickles Glitter Glue with your finger to the snow covered areas.
