Tim Holtz Distress Focus on the Good Tag by Paula Cheney

Focus on the Good with this beautiful floral tag by Paula Cheney by using the new Tim Holtz Distress® Speckled Egg Embossing Glaze, Ink, and Paint.

Instructions

Hello friends!Great to be back here on the Ranger blog showcasing the wonderful new Speckled Egg Distress color! I have created a simple Mini Etcetera Tag that incorporates Distress Paint, Distress Ink and Embossing Glaze. Follow along and I’ll show you how I created this piece.

Step 1: Cut a 5 x 9” piece of Watercolor Cardstock. Ink the Stampers Anonymous Ornate stamp with Distress Embossing Ink (no block). Stamp cardstock on one corner. Place cardstock over scrap paper and pour Speckled Egg Distress Embossing Glaze over the surface. Tap off excess Glaze and return to jar. Repeat steps on the opposite corner. Use a Heat-it Craft Tool to heat the Embossing Glaze until melted.

Step 2: Place card over a paper towel and spray with Antique Linen Distress Stain Spray. Make sure there are a few puddles to create darker spots.

Step 3: Dry with a Heat-it Craft Tool. Pounce over surface with paper towel to remove excess Spray Stain.

Step 4: Using a Collage Brush and Distress Collage Medium, adhere to Mini Etcetera Tag. Cut away excess paper with a craft knife.

Step 5: Cut another piece of Watercolor Cardstock. Spray Speckled Egg Distress Spray Stain onto Craft Sheet. Spritz with water. Press cardstock into the stain/water mix and dry with Heat It Tool. Repeat steps until satisfied. Using a die, cut an oval from the colored cardstock. Randomly stamp oval with Stampers Anonymous Ledger Script stamp and Hickory Smoke Archival Ink.

Step 6: Ink the edges of the oval with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a Mini Blending Tool with foam. Add foam squares to the back and adhere to the center of the Mini Etcetera Tag.

Step 7: Die cut three Wildflowers using Watercolor Cardstock. Create a palette of Distress Ink colors on craft mat. I used Speckled Egg, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Forrest Moss, and Dusty Concord. Using a Detailer Water Brush, watercolor the die cut flowers. (note: a pen was used to create the black dots in the center of the daisies)

Step 8: Choose a Quote Chip from the pack. Cut the ends of the chip into a flag shape. Use the Embossing Dabber to add Embossing Ink to the edges of the Quote Chip. Repeat embossing steps with Speckled Egg Glaze as described in photo 1. Use a Mini Blending Tool to add Walnut Stain Distress Ink to the remainder of the Quote Chip.

Step 9: Using Walnut Stain Distress Ink and water, color a piece of cheesecloth and 18” of cotton string. Dry with Heat It Craft Tool. Shred cheesecloth into a pile and tie a double bow with the string.

Step 10: Add the three wildflowers to the oval center with foam squares and Collage Medium. Adhere the pile of shredded cheesecloth at the base of the wildflowers to cover the ends of the stems. Adhere the Quote Chip with three foam squares.

Step 11: Choose a few pieces of Idea-ology ephemera from the Field Notes and Field Notes Snippets packs to complete the collage.

Step 12: Paint a idea-ology Vintage Clip with Speckled Egg Distress Paint. Set aside to dry. Once dry, scribble Walnut Stain Distress Crayon over paint and rub with a damp finger. You can also sand the metal with steel wool to lightly reveal the metal underneath. Add to the top of the Mini Etcetera Tag.=
