“Best Day” Color Wash Scrapbook Page By Dina Wakley

Make an artsy and vibrant scrapbook page with Adirondack Color Wash.

Instructions

(1) Take some scraps or small pieces of Sticky-Back Canvas and spray them with Lettuce and Butterscotch Color Wash. Also paint some of them with acyrlic paints (try using Dina Wakley Media Heavy Body Acrylic Paints oRanger’s Paint Dabbers). You just need some various colored pieces. Set them aside to dry.

(2) Take three tags and place them on the manila sheet. Spray around the tags (i.e. use the tags as a mask) with Sailboat Blue and Wild Plum Color Wash.

(3) Use a circle stencil and Butterscotch Color Wash to add some yellow circles around the tags.

(4) Remove the tags and set them aside for use in another project.

(5) Take a paintbrush wet with water and “color” with the water inside the tags. Any spray ink that is inside the tag area will dissolve and create a wash-like background.

(6) Let the page dry completely.

(7) Take a look at all your scraps of colored Sticky-Back Canvas. Layer some of the scraps and sew them together with your sewing machine, using black thread. You need 3 layered pieces that are about the same width as the tags you used as masks.

(8) Use a black pen to outline the tags. The outlining gives them definition and helps them stand out from the strong background.

(9) When your page is dry, add three photographs (one per tag). Also add some handwritten journaling on the tag above the photograph. Adhere your three layered pieces of Sticky-Back Canvas under the photos.

(10) Add a title.

(11) Trim some of the manila cardstock from the top and bottom of the layout. Ink the edges of the cardstock with Black Soot ink.

(12) Adhere the manila piece to a sheet of 12×12 black cardstock.

(13) Use a sewing machine to sew around the entire manila piece.
