Distress Crayon Card by Cheiron Brandon

Follow along as Cheiron Brandon creates this marvelous card with Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, featuring a beautiful blend of colors and textures.

Instructions

Hi there crafty friends! It’s Cheiron Brandon here and I am back with another tutorial using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. There are so many possibilities with these crayons and one of my favorite ways to use them is to create cards with a mixed media feel, so that is what we will do today.

Step 1: Gather your supplies for your background. I used Distress Crayons, Distress Mixed Media Heavy Stock, Distress Crackle Paste Opaque, Distress Collage Medium and the Numeric Stencil.

Step 2: Apply the Crackle Paste through your stencil using a palette knife. Remove the stencil and be sure to clean it (or soak in water until you can). Let the paste dry.

Step 3: Apply a layer of Distress Collage Medium over the entire panel and let dry. This is what is going to allow your crayon to blend over the surface.

Step 4: Start applying the layers of Distress Crayon. Work on coloring in one section at a time, then use your finger to blend the pigment.

Step 5: Continue adding color using the Distress Crayons and blending until you fill the panel.

Step 7: Use the Mini Brush Marks stencil and a damp baby wipe to remove some color and give added texture.

Step 8: Continue removing color until you get the effect you like.

Step 9: Stamp some marks onto your panel using Black Soot Distress Archival Ink and the Mini Media Marks Stamps. Add an Idea-ology Paper Doll and a Quote Chip label to complete your card.

I hope you enjoyed making this mixed media panel card with me!
