Dylusions Archival Ink Abstract Journal Page by Jess Peters

This abstract art journal page by Jess Peters is full of color, texture, and personality!  Using the new Dylusions Mini Archival Ink Kits #7 and #8 and coordinating re-inkers, she layers bold colors with stenciled patterns, doodled details, and a touch of sparkle to create a playful, inky spread that’s all about creative fun.

Instructions

Hi there, artsy friends! I get really excited when new ink colors are introduced and this release from Dylusions is no exception. I decided to play with some different ways of applying the inks on blank adhesive canvas to create a textured, abstract grid page in my journal. Follow along and let’s have some inky fun!

Step 1: Take out 2 sheets of Dylusions Blank Adhesive Canvas and using the mini ink blending tool apply Dylusions Archival Ink in Pink Flamingo to 3 areas on each sheet. Then apply Archival Ink in Mushy Peas to the remaining areas.

Step 2: Using the spiral stamp from the Dylusions Stamper’s Anonymous - Get Your Rocks On set and Archival Ink in Mushy Peas stamp a few random spots on each canvas sheet. Repeat with the brick shaped stamp and Periwinkle Blue from the new ink set.

Step 3: With the Mushy Pease Re-Inker, squeeze out a few larger drops onto both sheets of canvas and use a brush to splatter small drops onto them as well. Create some loops and random marks with your brush to add more detail and repeat with the Pink Flamingo Re-Inker.

Step 4: Add a few drops from the Blue Lagoon Re-Inker to some opaque Matte Texture Paste and mix with a palette knife or scraper. Place the small Dylusions Diamond in the Rough stencil over your canvas sheet and use your palette knife to apply the Blue lagoon paste to random areas.

Repeat on your second sheet.

Step 5: Once your canvas sheets are completely dry, cut each sheet in half lengthwise then cut each strip into 4 squares. Don’t worry about your squares being perfect, wonky squares are more interesting!

Step 6: Open your Dylusions Classics Journal to a blank black page and arrange 12 of your favorite squares however you like, remove the adhesive backing and stick them onto the page.

Step 7: With the white 1MR Posca paint pen, loosely outline each of the squares so they stand out.

Step 8: Paint a blank sheet from your journal with Dylusions Flip Cap Paint in Pink Flamingo. Once it’s dry, outline the small silhouette mask from the Dylusions Martha Stencil set with the white paint pen. Find the quote that reads “Giddy up, Sparkle Pants, there’s chaos to spread” from the Bigger Back Chat set #3 and stick it onto the sheet as well.

Step 9: Cut out your silhouette and quote leaving a bit of a border and glue them onto your journal page.

Step 10: To go along with the quote, add a little “sparkle” with Dylusions Stickles in Stardust wherever you’d like and your inky grid journal page is complete!
