Books & Journal | Dylusions by Dyan Reaveley | Mixed Media

In this tutorial, Denise Lush uses Dylusions Collage Sheets, Stencils, and Ink Sprays to make this quick and colorful layout in The Classics Journal by Dyan Reaveley.

Instructions

Using Dylusions Ink Sprays can create a gorgeous background in just seconds with Dyan’s fabulous colors. Using dark colors for your background will allow your collage images to really pop!  You would think using such dark colors for a background would create a dark page. Let me show you how I prove that theory wrong.

Dylusions Cut and Paste Journal Spread Step 1

Step 1: Open to two kraft pages in your Dylusions Journal The Classics. Spray Dylusions Ink Spray all over your pages in After Midnight, Pomegranate Seed and Chopped Pesto. Don’t worry if you don’t get the very edges, you will cover this with collage images in the next step.

Step 2: Select images from Dylusions Collage Sheets for a border around your page. Allow some of the images to move into your page with some of your border pieces. Here strips and hexagons from Sets 3 and 4 have been used. A scalloped frame has also been cut into pieces to use for border strips.

Step 3: Glue down the border pieces and include more collage images onto your page. Here we have stuck with images from the same sets of Collage Sheets.

Step 4: Adding contrast to your pages with black and white images can really add interest and brighten things up! To continue with the idea of hexagons which were used in collage, trace hexagons from the Dylusions Dyalog Stencil, Quilt It onto some Dylusions Coloring Sheets. Cut the hexagons out along with a quote and the bird.

Step 6: Using the Dylusions Paint Pen in White Linen trace some more hexagons onto your pages using the Dyalog Stencil Quilt it. Also trace around your collage images to help them stand out even more.
