Life is too short to not have fun and one of the ways I enjoy myself is through art. Watch as I have fun incorporating gel printing with Dyan’s new Couture stamps to make fabulous outfits!
Step 1: Grab your 9” X 11” gel plate from the Gel Plate 3 Pack Assortment by Dyan Reaveley and Dina Wakley, your brayer and some paints. When choosing colors think of how you would like your outfits to look. Keep your gel prints really simple. They may not look like much but once you use Dyan’s stamps on them, it will look stunning!
Step 2: Stamp some outfits from the Dylusions stamp sets Night at the Opera Duo and Man About Town Duo onto your gel printed papers and once onto white paper. Don’t forget to include some accessories!
Cut out all your stamped images.
Note, you can stamp the outfit more than once onto different colored gel prints, then cut and paper piece them together to create cute outfits!
Step 3: Find a regular mixed media cardstock page in your ClassicsJournal. Place the Diamond mask from the Dylusions Classics Stencils & Mask set. Adhere some temporary adhesive to the back of the diamond and put it in place.
Step 4: Spray your page with Dylusions Ink Spray, slightly overlapping the colors. The colors used on this page are Vanilla Custard, Lemon Zest and Peony Blush.
Step 5: Now use the stencil portion of the diamond and apply Dylusions Black Marble paint.
Step 6: Using the Dylusions Collage Sheets create a border around your page.
Step 7: Find heads that go nicely with the outfits from the Dylusions Collage Sheets and piece together your outfits. Paper piece and glue the clothing down onto the image stamped on the white paper. Check out those outfits!
Step 8: Figure out where you would like your finely dressed people to stand on your page, then stamp out the legs on your journal page.
Step 9: Using your Dylusions Paint Pens, outline the border and add some doodles. Write a quote inside the black diamond and doodle around the outside.
Step 10: Glue your beautifully dressed people down onto your journal page and you are finished! Isn’t that fabulous!
Final Thoughts:
I love using gel prints for the outfits. It’s so much quicker than coloring in the images! Little effort and great impact!
