A three-page spread of Dylusions goodness! Miranda brings the latest Dyan Reaveley stamps, Dylusions Dy Cuts, Stencils, Ink Sprays, and more together in this colorful, quirky scene.

And can we talk about Miranda’s coloring skills?! The dimension and detail she’s achieved using Dylusions Ink Sprays and Caykes & Sticks are SO good. From the characters and their outfits to every colorful flower, there’s something to discover across all three pages. Try out this bold, playful spread that shows just how much you can do with a little color and a lot of creativity!

Instructions

Step 1: First page: Spray some water on the page, take the cap of the bottle and use the dip tube to make scribbles on your page. Spray some extra water to let the inks flow and blend. Let it air dry for bright and cheery colours.

Step 2: Place a stencil over the page and choose one of the colours you used for your scribbles. Lightly spray through the stencil—a little is enough. If you use too much ink, it may seep underneath the stencil and cause the pattern to become smudged.

Step 3: Third page: Repeat the scribble technique on your third page, use different colours.

Step 4: Draw a rectangle with the Dylusions journaling block and add an easy to cut out stencil. Use a posca marker (1mr) to trace the pattern within the rectangle.

Step 5: Second page: After the scribble page (first page) is fully dry, add some paints with a baby wipe on the backside of the first page. Use one of the colours and a mini blender tool to add a stencil to the painted background.

Step 6: When page 1 and 2 are fully dry, take a crafting knife and a cutting mat and cut out the shapes of the stencil.

Step 7: Now the backgrounds are done it is time to play with the dy-cuts and stamped images. The dy-cuts come with a small white border, but you can cut this off if you like.

Make a nice composition on all 3 pages by mixing the dy-cuts and stamped images up and glue them down using the Dylusions glue.

Step 8: To make your images really pop off the page, use contrasting colours. This means placing warm colours on cool-coloured backgrounds, and vice versa. For example, use pinks, reds, and oranges on the green pages (pages 1 and 2). For the third page, use a combination of contrasting colours and tone-on-tone colours. Colour the die-cuts in blues and greens so they become the focal point and stand out from the page. Colour the flowers in warm colours so they blend in with the background.

Use the spray inks for colouring the images.

Step 9: After adding a first layer of spraying inks, use the sticks from the cakes & sticks set) for adding shadows. They work perfectly dry on the first layer with inks.

Trace all the images with a black posca marker (1mr) and add highlights with a white posca marker (1mr). Add tiny bits of extra colour to the images using the posca markers.

Your pages are now ready.
