I've always loved Liquid Pearls for adding accents and confetti dots to my projects, but when Ranger's Patti Behan pointed out that Liquid Pearls are actually shimmery acrylic paint in convenient little bottles, it opened my mind up to LOTS more possibilities for using them!
Step 1: Gather your supplies: A selection of Ranger Archival Inks (Rose Madder, Sea Grass, Aquamarine, Sun Dazed, Viridian); Liquid Pearls (Rouge, Outrageous, Lemon Chiffon, Sage and Ocean Blue); Emboss It Clear Embossing Ink; Ranger White Embossing Powder; Diamond Stickles; Simon Hurley create. Sentimental Flowers Stamp Set; Simon Hurley create. Stark White Cardstock.
Step 2: Trim a piece of Simon Hurley create. Stark White Cardstock to 6 x 4 1/4". On a palette or your Craft Sheet, dispense a small amount of Liquid Pearls in the following colors: Rouge, Outrageous, Lemon Chiffon, Sage and Ocean Blue, adding a drop or two of plain water to each color. Use a medium-sized flat brush to paint a stripe of each color so that they overlap slightly. Set aside and allow to dry completely.
Step 3: Add five to seven thin, dimensional lines of Diamond Stickles to the rainbow stripes from Step 2. Apply the Stickles directly from the bottle in continuous strokes, placing the Stickles at the intersections between colors, or wherever there is interesting movement inside one color. Set aside on a flat surface and allow to dry completely, preferably overnight.
Step 4: Stamp the three flowers from Simon Hurley’s create. Sentimental Flowers clear stamp set (plus three of the leaves) in Emboss It Clear Ink and sprinkle with Ranger White Embossing Powder. Melt the powder using the Ranger Heat It Craft Tool. Allow the embossed images to cool completely before proceeding.
Step 5: Use a Ranger Mini Ink Blending Tool and Domed Replacement Foams to apply Archival Ink to the embossed flowers and leaves. The largest flower is tinted with Aquamarine, the medium with Sun Dazed and the smallest with Rose Madder. For the leaves, use a combination of Sea Grass and Viridian. Using a small round brush and the leftover diluted Liquid Pearls, add Ocean Blue to the center of the blue flower, with a few streaks into the petals as well. Do the same using Rouge Liquid Pearls to the pink flower. (Note: the yellow flower is left plain.)
Step 6: When the Liquid Pearls are dry, use scissors to neatly cut out the flowers and leaves. Add a thin coat of Diamond Stickles to the center of each flower. Set aside on a flat surface and allow to dry completely.
Step 7: When the Stickles has completely dried on the rainbow stripes, trim the panel down to 4 X 5.5”. Using Sea Grass Archival Ink, stamp "Thank You" from Simon Hurley‘s Sentimental Flowers stamp set at the bottom right corner of the panel.
Step 8: Using a Mini Ink Blending Tool and a Domed Replacement Foam, apply Sea Grass Archival to the edges of a cardstock panel of Simon Hurley create. Stark White Cardstock which measures 4.25 x 5.75".
Step 9: Assembly: Affix the rainbow panel to the Sea Grass-edged panel using Perfect Card Adhesive. Add the flowers in a cascading arrangement, using small pieces of Letter It White Foam Roll Tape. Tuck the leaves in around the flowers and adhere with Perfect Card Adhesive. Add the completed design panel to a folded white A6 card made from Simon Hurley create. Stark White Cardstock.
Step 10: Use the stamps from the Sentimental Flowers set to adorn the flap of an A6 envelope, then flip it over and address it to someone you’d like to thank… for a holiday gift, a special kindness, or just for being themselves. Sign the card and mail it today! Consider repeating steps 1-9 a few more times; you never know when you’ll need more Thank You cards, and it's nice to have them on hand.
