Hello again my artsy friends! Coloring is one of my favorite things to do on the days when I feel a little “blah” and need to do something relaxing. Dylusions Caykes and Sticks are a fun, vibrant, and elevated way to color in embossed images. And when you combine them with a little touch of shimmer from the Dyamond Dusts, you’ll be creating GORGEOUS pieces that you can add to journal pages, cards, and tags. Have fun creating!

Step 1: Mount the 3 squares and 1 diamond shaped stamps from the Dylusions It’s In The Background stamp set to the Dylusions Square Stamp Block and ink them up with the Dylusions Dyamond Medium Pad.

Step 2: Stamp the images onto a separate sheet of mixed media paper and coat them with Dylusions Black Dyamond Pebbles. Tap off excess and use the Ranger Heat It Craft Tool to emboss.

Step 3: Repeat the process to create a bunch of embossed images. Add the diamond shape from the Dylusions Tag It stamp set to the mix of images so that you have a variety of designs.

Step 4: Use the Dylusions Waterbrush to color in your images with the Dylusions Caykes and Sticks. Have fun and experiment with different color combinations on each of your shapes!

Step 5: Once they’re dry you can add a touch of metallic shimmer with the Dylusions Dyamond Dusts in London Blue, Cherry Pie, Bubblegum Pink, Postbox Red, and Pure Sunshine. In the lid, mix a bit of the dust with a few drops of water. Then paint the dusts on the top of a similar color to add a subtle sheen.

Step 6: Open to a blank page in your large Dylusions Black Dot Grid Journal and write some thoughts down with a white Uni Posca Paint Pen. Add some splatters of the Pure Sunshine Dyamond Dust all over the page and set aside to dry.

Step 7: Cut out all of your shapes leaving a small border around each one. Lay out your images on the page in a pattern that you like and glue them down with Dylusions Glue. Trim off any edges that spill over the page to make it flush.

Step 8: Find the quote that reads “My decisions are not always right, but they are always interesting” from the white Dylusions Bigger Back Chat and attach it to a piece of black paper. Use the Pure Sunshine Dyamond Dust to paint around the edges of the quote.

Step 9: Cut out the quote leaving a small gold border and glue it down to finish your page!
Hello friends! My name is Jess and I live in New Jersey where I was born and raised. I discovered the world of art journaling and mixed media in 2022 and I’ve been obsessed ever since! I love bright bold color and I’m a sucker for all things that glitter and shine. I’m also inspired by music and song lyrics and often include them in my layouts.
