Step 1: Ink Your Stamp with Embossing Ink

Press your stamp onto the Emboss It clear ink pad. You want good, even coverage. The clear embossing ink is essentially a sticky base that holds the embossing powder in place before you heat it.

Step 2: Stamp onto Black Cardstock

Stamp your image onto the black cardstock. Solid images work better here than fine-line images since there's more surface area for the embossing powder to grab. Floral and leaf designs work really well with this technique.

Step 3: Pour on the Frosted Crystal Embossing Powder

Pour Ranger frosted crystal embossing powder generously over your stamped image. Tap the card to make sure the powder covers the whole image, then tilt it to return the excess powder back into the jar. You'll notice the powder sticks only where the embossing ink is.

Now heat it with your heat gun until the powder melts completely. Let it cool for a moment before moving to the next step.

Step 4: Add the Perfect Pearls Pigment Powder

This is where the color comes in! Sprinkle small amounts of Perfect Pearls powder randomly over the image. Patti layers a few colors for more depth, but even one color looks beautiful. A little goes a long way. So start with less than you think you need.

Step 5: Pounce with Your Brush

Use a larger Perfect Pearls brush to pounce (press and lift, not swipe) over the image. This presses the mica powder into the surface of the frosted crystal embossing powder so it sticks. You're not scrubbing, just gently pressing it in.

Step 6: Remove the Excess

Brush away the excess powder with your brush, and use a dry cloth to clean up any powder that landed on the black cardstock background. Because the Perfect Pearls only bonds to the frosted crystal surface, the background stays clean. It’s best to brush upwards.

Tips for Getting the Best Results

Work on a dark background. You can use a light background, but the black cardstock makes the shimmery colors pop in a way that light cardstock just doesn't. If you try this on white or cream paper, the effect is much more subtle.
