Tim Holtz® Alcohol Ink Paper & Surfaces

Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Surfaces from Ranger include Yupo paper, DuraBright panels, glossy cardstock and other non-porous substrates specifically engineered to let alcohol inks flow, blend and layer the way Tim Holtz intended. Using the right surface makes a significant difference in the results you achieve.

Yupo is a synthetic, non-porous paper that gives alcohol inks a slick surface to move freely across. Because it doesn't absorb ink the way regular paper does, inks stay wet longer and blend in fluid, organic patterns. Ranger's Yupo papers are available in white and translucent versions for different visual effects.

DuraBright panels are, coated surfaces designed specifically for Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks. Their smooth, non-porous coating creates brilliant color saturation and allows inks to flow and layer with the same behavior as glass or metal, but in a lightweight, craft-friendly format.

Regular paper is porous and absorbs alcohol inks too quickly for blending and fluid techniques. For the ink movement and effects that alcohol ink techniques are known for, non-porous surfaces like Yupo paper and DuraBright are the right choice.

You can use a heat tool to speed drying and enhance certain effects on alcohol ink surfaces; it creates interesting texture and lift. However, be careful with heat intensity, particularly on delicate surfaces like thin Yupo paper.
