Instructions

Sometimes it is fun to let mother nature come alive on your art journal pages. In this spread, you can find some unique ways to use stencils and watered down acrylics to create some wintery effects to capture the season.

Winter Journal Spread Step 1

Step 1: Spray your journal page with Mineral and Sand to begin your background.

Step 2: Using a Mini Blending Tool with Foam apply some White Gesso through the Mantras stencil in random places around your background.

 Winter Journal Spread Step 3

Step 3: Stamp your Scribbly Bird Cousins onto white cardstock with Jet Black Archival Ink. Add some of your paint to color the bird. Cut out.

Step 4: Stamp your chosen stentiment from the Just What to Say stamp set onto white cardstock with Archival Ink  and cut out.

Winter Journal Spread Step 5

Step 5: Squeeze out a small dallop of each paint color into a tray and add water. Mix the acrylics and water to create a “water color” wash with your paints.

 Winter Journal Spread Step 6

Step 6: Using the Circles for Painting stencil, brush your wash through the stencil allowing both colors to mix or blend. Gently lift your stencil when done, and allow your circles to dry. Cut out circles.

 Winter Journal Spread Step 7

Step 7: Repeat the same process with the Curly Fronds stencil. Allow to dry and cut out.

 Winter Journal Spread Step 8

Step 8: Arrange your watercolor cutouts to create a wintery scene and glue to your page with your Dylusions Dyary Glue Stick.

 Winter Journal Spread Step 9

Step 9: To add some extra dimension, add some Stickles Twinkle glue around your circles to create an extra wintery effect.
