Transparencies are fun to use to add imagery and words to your art journals, but what
about making an entire page/spread with them? Until these new transparencies arrived, I would never have thought of that, but now, I think it’s going to be one of my new favorite activities!

Step 1: In your journal, choose a couple of blank pages – one for your art, the one in front to cut. Cut out a majority of that first page, leaving a flap.

Step 2: Cover the page and the flap with collage paper. Here, mostly book pages were
used with some collage tissue and adhered to the page using Gel Medium. Cover with a light coat of white gesso.

Step 3: Add acrylic paints to the page and flap. Be very loosey-goosey with the paint and let it flow a little bit. Place a stencil over the page, and using a baby wipe, wipe away some of the paint, leaving the stenciled design behind. This allows the layers from the collage papers and gesso to show through.

Step 4: Stamp some of the new images onto some cardstock and fussy cut them. Stamp some of the smaller, flying birds to the background using black Archival ink.

Step 5: Using Media Glue, add some of the fussy cut birds to the background. Take one of the typed ledger transparencies and attach it to the flap with a tiny attacher. Cut the transparency to size.

Step 6: While the stamps and ink are out, stamp some letters to form a phrase. Using
scribble sticks and water, color the stamped letters and face.

Step 7: Using Media Glue, adhere the stamped face to the painted page. Add the phrase and a few more fussy cut birds to the transparency page. Finally, add some sparkly splatters to both pages.
