Dina Wakley Media 'Black Gesso Moon' Journal Page by Doreen Dilger

Turn a blank journal page into a star-filled night sky with just a few supplies! Doreen Dilger creates this page in the Dina Wakley Media Kraft Journal using Black Gesso, Paints, and the Vintage Moon Stamp Set to create a striking monochromatic spread where white paint splatters become twinkling stars against the dark sky background.

Simple, bold, and full of atmosphere, this page is easy to recreate while leaving plenty of room to make it your own.

Instructions

Step 1: Gather all Dina Wakley Media supplies, including her Kraft Journal.

Step 2: Using Dina Wakley Media Black Gesso and the Brush Set 2 pk, paint the entire page with the Black Gesso and put it aside to dry.

Step 3: Using the Dina Wakley Media Vintage Moon Faces Stamp, stamp three moon faces on white cardstock paper and cut them out. Then, using Dina Wakley Media Assorted Tags #8, stamp the moon quote and smaller face under the quote.

Step 4: Place something on top of the stamped quote and small moon face to mask them. Then take the Dina Wakley Acrylic Paint in Black, using a small amount (pea size), add it to your craft mat or side paper and mix with water using the Distress Sprayer. Once you have a watery mixture, take your Dina Wakley Media Soft Bristle Brush and create splatters all over the tag. Put it aside to dry.

Step 5: We will now add white splatters to create stars on top of the black gesso page. Using your Dina Wakley Acrylic Paint in White, add a small amount (pea size) to your craft mat or side paper and mix with water using the Distress Sprayer. Once you have a watery mixture, take your Dina Wakley Soft Bristle Brush and create splatters all over the page. Set aside to dry.

Step 6: Using a black paint pen like a Posca pen, outline the edge of the moon faces and tag.

Step 7: Using the Dina Wakley Media Glue, secure your moon faces and tag on your page. Be sure to hold down the edges until the glue has secured to the page. This should only take a couple of seconds.

Step 8: Congrats, You have now made a simple mixed-media journal page. Now take a picture and share it with the world.
