Instructions

Hi there crafty friends! It’s Cheiron Brandon here and I am back with a fun tutorial for you using the newest color in the Distress Line, Lost Shadow. It is a perfect light grey for me and is the perfect shadow color when layering hearts on these watercolor look cards I created for Valentine’s Day! Today I have a set of 5 cards for you, showing some different color combinations for Valentine cards, perfect to send to all your friends, in their favorite color.

Step 1: To begin, let’s gather the supplies we need: some Distress Watercolor Cardstock, Lost Shadow Distress Oxide (and your other favorite oxide ink colors), a Distress Sprayer, and Spring Shadows and Noteworthy stamps.

Step 2: Pick out 2 colors of Distress Oxides in the same color family. Stamp the heart in Lost Shadow Distress Oxide, then stamp in the lighter color of oxide that you selected.

Step 4: Mist the card using a Distress Sprayer to activate the oxides, don’t spray too much or you will get small blobs of color (I do not mind those at all!).

Step 5: Dry your panel with a heat tool to keep the color from spreading.

Step 6: Press some of the colors onto your glass mat or craft sheet, and spray with water using a Distress Sprayer. Pick up the color with a paintbrush and splatter on to your card panel for a more artsy look. Dry with heat tool.

Step 7: Emboss sentiment onto black cardstock using white detail embossing powder. Use an anti-static pouch on your paper before stamping to eliminate powder from sticking where you do not want it to.
