Dylusions Spooktacular Journal Page by Miranda van den Bosch

A little spooky, a lot of color! Miranda van den Bosch's spooktacular Dylusions journal page is filled with Halloween fun, from playful witches and potion bottles to pumpkins, spiderwebs, and whimsical details throughout! Created using the latest Dylusions Stamps, Dylusions Paints, and Bigger Back Chat, this page is full of quirky Halloween inspiration.

Instructions

What’s even better than journaling? Spooky journaling. Create a fun Halloween page with the new Dylusions Halloween stamps.

Step 1: Choose a variety of colours, such as different oranges and purples. Add a drop of paint to your craft sheet and pick it up with the mini blending tool. Make loose circles on your journal page to build the first background layer.

Step 2: Circle around the painted circles with a black marker, such as a Posca 1MR. Keep the lines loose rather than precise to make the background feel more playful.

Step 3: Draw little cobwebs in the spaces between the circles to add a clear Halloween detail.

Step 4: Use these Halloween colour combinations as inspiration before choosing the palette for your focal images.

Step 5: Let the images audition for a spot on your page. Swap the legs of the dinky doll for the witch’s legs. When you are happy with the composition, glue all the images down with Dylusions glue so the focal point is fixed before colouring.

Step 6: Use diluted Dylusions inks for your first layer of colour, keeping it light so later details remain easy to control.

Step 7: Use crayons to add more layers and create depth, especially where the images need stronger contrast.

Step 8: Use the crayons dry, then add a little water for a smooth blend. Avoid using too much water, because the previous ink layer may react as well.

Step 9: Add colouring pencils for extra details and use Balmy Night crayons as a shadow around the images. This pushes the background back slightly, making the circles less overpowering.

Step 10: Outline all the images with the Posca 1MR marker and add a nice quote. Then your page is finished.
