Snowman Slimline Card by Daniel Diaz

Learn how to create a snowy slimline card using the Simon Hurley create. Snazzy Snowmen Clear Stamp. Daniel Diaz walks you through the steps in this easy to follow tutorial.

Instructions

Hi crafty friends! Today I'm showing you a easy slimline card using some Simon Hurley Stamps, Stencils and Dye Ink Pads. Telling you the truth, I have so much fun making slimline cards. Enough said, let’s jump over to the step-by-step tutorial.

Snowman Slimline Step 1

Step 1: Let's begin by creating the background. Therefore, you need to cut a piece of Simon Hurley Stark White Cardstock down to 8 ½ and 3 ¼ . Now you need the Sweater Weather Stencil and two different inks. I used Midnight Snack and Minty Fresh. For the first layer use the darkest color first so Midnight Snack. Just take care that you don’t ink blend the borders on one of the sides as this is not a slimline stencil. Use a piece of tape just to cover it.

Snowman Slimline Step 2

Step 2: After the first layer of color was done, it’s time for the second layer of color. Now use Minty Fresh to get some nice 3D dimension on your background. Therefore, you just need to place your stencil right on the first layer and just shift it a bit to create that halo.

Snowman Slimline Step 3

Step 3: Now stamp the snowman, the hat and the little bird onto a piece of Ranger watercolor paper with Archival Ink Jet Black. You will need to stamp it two or three times to get a crisp image.

Snowman Slimline Step 4

Step 4: To color out your images, you just need to smoosh a bit of the corner of your ink pad onto the glass mat, then use a fine brush and some water. You could use less water if you don’t want the colours to be that bright.

Snowman Slimline Step 5

Step 5: After you have colored all the images, it is time to fussy cut them. You can leave a white border as I did or you just cut it directly at the line.

Snowman Slimline Step 6

Step 6: For the sentiment, use a piece of vellum and stamp the sentiment using the Ranger Emboss it Ink. Don’t forget to use some anti-static powder before stamping.  Then sprinkle some Ranger Gold Embossing Powder over it and heat emboss with your Heat Tool.

Snowman Slimline Step 7

Step 7: To adhere all the pieces use some clear foam tape for the snowman to give him some dimension and for the vellum you can use some Perfect Card Adhesive from Wendy Vecchi. A good tip is to cut a longer strip of vellum, that way you can adhere it at the back of your card, so you will not have any adhesive looking through at the front.

To finish the card, just adhere your card panel onto a white card base also using some Simon Hurley Stark White Cardstock.

And that’s it my crafty friends, now you have a fun slimline card.

Thanks again for stopping by and I wish you all the best. Stay safe and healthy.
