Instructions
Step 1: Cut one sheet of Woodgrain Cardstock to fit a small Stampers Anonymous Etcetera Tag.
Step 2: Adhere the Woodgrain Cardstock to the Etcetera Tag with Collage Medium Matte and a small Collage Brush.
Step 3: Spray tag with multiple colors of Distress Spray Stain (Walnut Stain and Frayed Burlap). Mist with water from a Distress Sprayer and dry with a Heat It Craft Tool until dry to the touch.
Step 4: Spritz with Iced Spruce Distress Oxide Spray and water. Repeat steps until there are random spots of Iced Spruce over the brown background. Dry with a Heat It Craft Tool.
Step 5: Using a Palette Knife, scrape Texture Paste Opaque Crackle over the surface. Set aside to air dry at least 30 minutes.
Step 6: Once the paste is crackled, use Distress Crayons to color the Texture Paste. Starting with Walnut Stain Distress Crayon, scribble over the Texture Paste and work it in with a damp finger or paint brush. Move to Iced Spruce and then Pine Needles, ending with highlights using the Picket Fence Crayon.
Step 7: Using Distress Embossing Ink and Gold Embossing Powder, emboss three leaves from the Stampers Anonymous Pressed Foliage stamp set onto Mixed Media Heavystock.
Step 8: Using a Detailer Water Brush, color leaves with fall Distress Inks colors like Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Aged Mahogany. Cut out leaves.
Step 9: Use a Gathered Twigs Distress Crayon to scribble heavily over the Idea-ology Baseboard Lace Frame. Rub crayon into the recessed areas and wipe away much of the excess crayon with a wet wipe so you are left with the dark crayon in the background.
Step 10: Add four foam squares to the back of the frame to raise it off the surface. Adhere to the Etcetera Tag. Spell the word THANKFUL using idea-ology Typography and adhere with Collage Medium. TIP: a trick to straight letters, slip a small rectangle of chipboard under the frame. Adhere the letters, then remove the chipboard.
Step 11: Spray a long strip of idea-ology Mummy Cloth with Walnut Stain Distress Spray Stain. Let the Mummy Cloth soak up the stain, then dry with Heat It Craft Tool. Tie into a bow with long tails.
Step 12: Using foam squares and Collage Medium, adhere the leaves to the frame. Adhere the Mummy Cloth bow at the base of the two leaves. Add natural elements like sticks and pods with Collage Medium to enhance the fall feeling.
I have been a “maker” all my life. Sewing, stamping, paper arts, I love it all. Creating and teaching is a passion for me, whether it is in the classroom or on my blog, One Lucky Day.. I have worked in the scrapbooking/mixed media field since 2005 and for the last 7 years have been the Creative Coordinator for Tim Holtz Brands, a dream job if there ever was one. On a personal note, I live on the Central Coast of California with my husband, Jay. I love to travel to new places to look for old junk and am willing to pack a bag at a moment’s notice. On an ordinary day you can find me working away in my craft room with the windows wide open and music playing in the background. Follow Paula on instagram @luckyday.
