Hello happy makers! For this assignment, I am creating a mixed media card featuring stamping with Distress Acrylic Paint.
Let’s gather all materials (Distress acrylic paint colours, stamp sets are a personal choice). Here are the materials I used for this card.

Step 1: Apply the Distress metallic paint in tarnished brass with a brayer onto the stamp. Place the stamp on a stamping platform. Stamp it onto your watercolor paper surface. Spray water onto the stamped image (Distress acrylic paint reacts to water). Wash stamp and brayer immediately after this step (warm water and dish soap).

Step 2: Paint stamped image with the Prize Ribbon watercolour pencil. Ink stamp with Distress Frayed Burlap Archival Ink and stamp it again onto the first stamped image (this is optional, if you want a sharp details).

Step 3: Background: First, stamp your main image onto a masking paper. Cut it off and place it onto the painted image. Second step, place your stamp script’s choice onto the stamping platform, apply Distress Ink Antique Linen onto your stamp. Stamp it and mist water for moving the ink. Let it dry.
With a brayer, apply Distress Tarnished Brass Paint onto the script stamp, then stamp it, and mist water onto it.
Repeat all the steps above to cover all the card background

Step 4: Sizzix die cut steps: Apply Distress Tarnished Brass paint with a brayer onto a piece of alcohol Yupo paper. Using this kind of paper gives more shine to the metallic paint. Let it dry and then die cut your sentiments from it.

Step 5: With a sponge tool, distress the card’s borders with Distress Tarnished Brass paint.

Step 6: Background frame steps: apply alcohol neon (optional colour) ink and alcohol blending solution onto alcohol Yupo cardstock. With an ink blower tool, move the ink and blending solution together and move this mix all around the surface. Let it dry.

Step 7: Place the main surface onto the background frame.
Add few details for a final touch, I used a chipboard element from Idea-ology.
Up to your inspiration at the moment! Happy summer to you all!
Bonjour! My name is Dominique, and I am from Montreal, Canada. For a while, I was a kids art teacher. I came across the stamping world about 30 years ago. Tim Holtz’s mixed media art universe further opened my horizon about 20 years ago. Ever since, I have been exploring and creating full time in my precious studio. I love creating with textured backgrounds, watercolors, with vintage vibes. My work aims to tell poetic stories. I have a passion for collecting tiny vintage antique objects. All this keeps me sane!
