It’s insane how beautifully the new 49 and Market ink pads perfectly match the Dennis Bruton Botanical Buzz collection. I love the ink in these pads and how super easy it is to create an effortless watercolor background. It’s the perfect base for adding layers of mixed media along with the gorgeous die cut elements in this collection.

Step 1: Smoosh down Cappuccino and Salted Caramel ink pads on a non-porous working surface. Spritz the ink and the journal pages with water. Pick up the diluted ink with a wet paint brush to paint splotches of color across the pages and splatter. Repeat for a few layers ensuring they are dry in between.

Step 2: Let’s begin creating clusters! Ink a script stamp and lightly roll the stamp on the paper so that the image isn’t clearly stamped. The script in the Tim Holtz Cling Mount Stamp Exquisite and Off The Rails ink pad is perfect for this step.

Step 3: Smoosh Daffodil ink pad on a non-porous working surface and with a palette knife, blend in Transparent Gloss Texture Paste. Use Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Stamp & Stencil Mixed Media #11 stencil to stencil honeycombs on top of the layers.

Step 4: Before it completely dries, use Ranger’s Heat It Craft Tool to overheat the paste until it begins to bubble. Be careful not to overheat the paper. This will add another layer of unexpected dimension.

Step 5: Smoosh Salted Caramel on your non-porous working surface and dilute with water. Pick up the ink with a wet paint brush and add it on top of the textured honeycomb for depth. This makes the honeycomb look like rich honey is oozing from it!

Step 6: Using the same stencil, blend Daffodil to the areas where there is little to no other mixed media. Yet another layer for additional depth to your project.

Step 7: Fussy cut a card from the 6x8 Botanical Buzz paper pad, distress the edges and ink them with Cappuccino for your focal point. To give the project a linear element, add torn washi tape and horizontal swirls from the puffy sticker sheet. Select black rub on’s to begin clustering. Black will accent all the beautiful warm tones and help bring all the layers together.

Step 8: Use rub on text strips for subtitles. Add floral die cut elements to the corners of the post card and dripping honey puffy stickers to complete those clusters. Die cut elements and puffy stickers complete the mixed media clusters created around the pages as well.

Step 9: Cappuccino is a great color to add grunge to any project. Simply blend ink to the edges of the die cut elements, chipboard words, and the journal pages.

Step 10: Finally, add a splatter of Dina Wakely’s White Gloss Spray by tapping the nozzle on top of all the clusters.
