Bring your journal pages to life with a mix of color, texture, and whimsical details! Using 49 and Market products, including ink pads, patterned papers, and the Echoes of Time collection, this tutorial shows how to create layered, dimensional designs full of creativity and charm.

Step 1: Start by applying the 49 and Market Irresistible Rub-On Transfers onto the 49 and Market Noteworthy Journal Essential Notebook for a beautiful, effortless base design.

Step 2: For a natural, organic look, press a piece of plastic (such as the backing from the Irresistible Rub-Ons) into your ink pad. Lightly mist it with the Tim Holtz Distress Sprayer for a fine, even spray, then press it onto the journal. Repeat the process until you’ve achieved your desired amount of color.

Step 3: Use the Ranger Heat It Craft Tool to thoroughly dry the ink on the journal page. Then, softly ink-blend two corners using the 49 and Market Dye Ink Pad in Mint Chill and Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Stamp & Stencil Mixed media #21 to add depth and a touch of color.

Step 4: Choose a patterned paper from the 49 and Market Echoes in Time 6x8 Collection Pack and tear off a few corners for a textured, vintage touch. Adhere the torn pieces to the corners of your journal page.

Step 5: Using the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Stamp & Stencil Mixed Media #21 alpha stencil, ink-blend 49 and Market’s Fossil Ink over the areas with Mint Chill ink to add subtle texture and layered interest to your background.

Step 6: Apply Ranger’s Opaque Matte Texture Paste along the torn edges of the patterned paper, blending it onto the journal page. This technique creates the illusion that the patterned paper is seamlessly embedded into the page for a beautifully cohesive look.

Step 7: The Echoes of Time Die-Cut Elements and Chipboard Bits are packed with perfect little details for building magical clusters. Add a touch of grunge by ink-blending the edges with Cappuccino ink. Finish by tucking in Echoes of Time Laser Cut Wildflowers as beautiful, delicate fillers.

Step 8: Create depth and dimension by adhering your elements with Scrapbook Adhesives 3D Foam Squares. For extra lift and a more dynamic layered look, simply double up on the foam squares!

Step 9: Finish with splatters of Dina Wakley’s Gloss Spray. The white adds the perfect touch to pull all your layers and colors together for a cohesive, finished look.

Step 10: Add a touch of Fossil ink behind the laser-cut elements to create subtle shadows. For a stunning finishing touch, use a surprise medium, Distress Grit Paste. Apply a thick layer over some of your elements to mimic the look of freshly fallen snow. This technique adds beautiful texture also introduces a subtle sparkle.
Echoes of Time is full of magical elements. I even created a grungy mechanical butterfly! Using 49 and Market ink pads, it’s easy to add color, texture, and dimension for whimsical journal pages. What will you create today?!
