Instructions 

It’s time to dust off your gelli plate and make some journal pages! Using the new Dina Wakley MEdia stamps “Branches with Leaves”, we’ll make some fun botanical backgrounds, and build up layers. Once you start, it’s going to be hard to stop!

Step 1: Add three coordinating acrylic paints onto a gelli plate. Here Lemon, Magenta, and Stoked were used. With a brayer, roll the colors out onto the plate and let them mix together. 

Step 2: Grab a blank sheet of collage tissue or copy paper to use as a mop up page. Place one of the botanical stamps onto a stamp block and stamp it into the paint on the gel plate. This will remove some of the paint, which you can then stamp onto the blank paper. 

Step 3: Place the gelli plate paint-side down onto a blank journal page. Here the 6’x6’ Kraft Journal was used. Repeat this process until the entire spread is covered.

Step 4: Try using some white paint over what is left on the gelli plate to get a ghost print. Layer that onto your journal pages as well. 

Step 5: With a contrasting/darker color, add some stenciling to the pages. Here, Night and the Dotted Tape stencil was used. 

Step 6:  Add some scribbles and journaling with a white scribble stick. 

Step 7: Add focal points and stamped phrases to the pages. Here, transparency images from Focals Set 2 were used and layered with a stamped figure. Add some gloss splatters to finish it off.  

This “spread” ended up turning into two separate pages, but that’s ok! It’s part of the process! I love working on two pages at a time, even if they turn out a little different. I hope you have fun playing with your gelli plate and journals!
