Hello Makers! Today I have a card to share with you using Micro Glaze with a 3D Embossing Folder. I just love Micro Glaze, and in today’s technique I used it for resisting Distress Oxides on embossed paper. I’m inviting you to come along, so let’s get making!

Step 1: Gather all the supplies listed above

Step 2: Emboss a piece of White Heavystock with a 3D Embossing folder that has a large pattern, such as the Metal Flourish 666155 by Tim Holtz Sizzix used in this tutorial.

Step 3: Put a small amount of Micro Glaze on your finger and blend it out on a Media Mat. You want to apply it to the paper in thin layers, not clumps or globs.

Step 4: Apply the Micro Glaze to the raised areas of the embossed paper lightly with your finger, reapplying Micro Glaze as needed until all the raised areas of the paper have a layer of Micro Glaze. Take care to be sure the raised areas have a nice layer of Micro Glaze but take care to apply it lightly so as not to get Micro Glaze on the debossed areas.

Step 5: Choose a few colors of Distress Oxide Sprays, such as those used in this tutorial, Bundled Sage, Antique Linen, and Speckled Egg. Spray these onto the embossed, Micro Glazed background.

Step 6: The Oxide Spray should bead up on the raised areas with the Micro Glaze as seen in this photo.

Step 7: Lay a paper towel over the background and gently press down to remove the Oxide from the glazed areas. Gently pat the paper towel over the background to remove any of the excess Oxide.

Step 8: Dry completely and admire!

Step 9: To finish the card, spray one of the Oxide colors onto a small piece of Black Heavy Stock and White Heavystock and dry. Use these to cut a sentiment with Alphanumeric dies such as Alphanumeric Bulletin from Tim Holtz Sizzix. This alpha has an outline, so both papers were used creating two sentiments.

Step 10: Before attaching to a card base, if you use a black card base, soften it with Distress Oxides in similar colors. Then attach the background to the card base, adhere the sentiment and you are finished. Keeping the design simple really lets the background shine!
