"My Cup of Care" Journal Page with Dylusions Pastel Paints by Miranda van den Bosch

This journal page is serving up the sweetest kind of creativity! In this tutorial, Miranda van den Bosch mixed the dreamy new Dylusions Pastel Paints with layered Dylusions Stencils and Stamps to create a whimsical page bursting with color, texture, and personality. From the playful backgrounds to the adorable characters (and that cupcake hat!), every layer adds a little more magic.

Instructions

Pastel colours can be very light, but not in our Dylusions world. Here the new pastel colours are vivid and cheery, great to use them together or in combination with all the other bright and neon colours.

Step 1: Use Coral Reef as the base colour, apply it with a baby wipe, then place the Big Boulder stencil over the page and add different colours using the mini blending tool. Use a variety of pastel colours and add every colour at least twice.

Step 2: Choose a stencil for each colour and add the stencil designs to the circles. Use the same colour as the circle, or mix and match with different colours if you prefer. For example use pink on yellow, yellow on blue and so on.

Step 3: Trace all the patterns with a posca marker. Choose the same colour as the circle for a ton-sur-ton look or use black and white if you want the patterns to stand out a bit more.

Step 4: Make a border with the Dylusions journal block and a black posca marker (1mr). Colour the border black with a posca 3m, 5m or with the Dylusions black marble paint.

Step 5: Time to add the images! Stamp and pre-cut all your images so you can try out different combinations and find one you really like. This makes the process of choosing images feel more organic.

Step 6: Colour all the images with the Dylusions inks and a (water)brush.

Step 7: Use the black posca marker (1mr) to give the images more detail. Colour the eyebrows, pupils, eyelashes and any other part you want to be black.

Step 8: Use a blue posca marker (1mr) and make a running stitch on the border.

Step 9: To give more depth to your images, use the acrylic posca markers on top of the Dylusions inks, add some caykes and sticks or use colouring pencils.

Step 10: Add a funny quote from the bigger backchat collection, any will do and your page is finished.
