Soul and Heart by Cheiron Brandon

Hi crafty friends, it’s Cheiron here today with a post using one of my favorite mediums, Dina Wakley Media Paint. I have always loved the resources on the Ranger website, especially the Dina Wakley Media Mixing Chart. I love Dina’s Paints and also love any opportunity to stretch the supplies I already have. For today’s project, I am going to mix up some of the colors on this chart to use in my journal page.

Instructions

Step 1: To get started, I am going to add my paints on some palette paper and mix them with a palette knife. I always mix with a knife rather than a brush, as it keeps my brush from getting gunked up. I mixed up peachy, lavender, and rosey.

Magenta + Lemon = Peachy

Magenta + Sky = Lavender

Magenta + Ruby = Rosey

Aren’t these colors just lovely?

To complete my palette, I added olive, lime, lemon and white.

Step 2: With this palette, I decided to create a journal page using the For the Love of Circles and Soul and Heart stamps.

Step 3: I added the Peachy, Lavender and Rosey paints to my gel press plate and also a bit of white.

Step 4: I rolled them out with the brayer, then pressed the plate onto my journal like a stamp and stamped in twice, leaving the white border around the outside of the page.

Step 5: Then I applied more Rosey paint to the page through The Best Hearts stencil.

Step 6: I stamped the main image I wanted to use on the page and also stamped the sentiment onto book paper.

Step 7: I screwed the fine tip applicator onto my tube of black paint and used it to outline the hearts.

Step 8: I also outlined the hearts on the top of the page.

Step 9: I stamped some words from The Love of Circles set in white to add another layer to my background. I added the focal image with Distress Collage Medium.

Step 10: Then I added the words on with Collage Medium as well.

Step 11: The page needed just a little something more, so I added lemon paint through the ladders stencil.

That completes my page. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I would love to hear if you have tried the mixing chart and what fun colors you mixed up!
