Quick, easy, and full of fall charm! Tami Bastiaans shows how to create a beautiful autumn card using Tim Holtz Distress Mini Oxides and stamps. Follow along as the background comes to life with rich colors and learn two fun stamping techniques in this tutorial.

Instructions

Hello Makers! Today I have a card to share with you using the wonderful new Distress Oxide Minis and two stamping techniques to make a quick and easy fall card. I’m inviting you to come along, and let’s get making!

Step 1: Gather all the supplies.

Step 2: Using a Blending Tool and Blending Foam, begin blending a background on an A2 (4.25x5.5) with two or three Distress Oxide colors. Wild Honey, Crackling Campfire and Vintage Photo, were used for the sample. Be certain there is enough Oxide on the foam so that it covers the paper and blends. It won’t be a smooth blend if there isn’t enough Oxide on the Blending Foam.

Step 3: Using a large background stamp, such as the word background on Thankful Silhouettes CMS116, put the stamp on a stamping tool or stamping block and spray 2-3 times with water. Make sure there is a layer of water all over the stamp. It should be wet, but not dripping.

Step 4: Stamp firmly onto the blended background and lift. There will be a light image remaining and that’s why it is called ghost stamping. Dry with a heat tool.

Step 5: Choose a background stamp with a detailed print, such as Tiny Prints CMS460, which was used for the sample. Ink it up with Scorched Timber Distress Ink.

Step 6: Choose an image with a large flat portion of the stamp, such as the leaves or acorn from Thankful Silhouettes CMS116 that were used in the sample. Cover the stamp with Distress Oxide.

Step 7: Press the inked background stamp onto the Oxide covered leaf stamp. This will lift some of the oxide off, while putting some of the Distress Ink in its place. Then stamp the leaf onto some Distress White Heavystock. The inked pattern should show through the solid Oxide background. This technique is called double stamping.

Step 8: Repeat this step several times so there are a few leaves and acorns to use on a card. Fussy cut the leaves and acorn out to attach to the card front.

Step 9: Using Ground Espresso Oxide, stamp a sentiment in the top right corner of the background, such as the one used from Noteworthy on the sample.

Step 10: Trim the background to 4x5.25 and attach it to a white A2 card base.  Arrange the leaves, and acorns along the left side of the card and adhere.

As you can see this very quick card uses two great techniques with Distress Oxides. I hope you found something in this tutorial inspiring.

Thank you so much for reading through the tutorial. We would love to see your Distress Oxide cards. Be sure to tag Tim Holtz and Ranger Ink on your cards if you share them on Social Media, so we can see your creations!
