Stickles Spring Card by Lauren Bergold

Ranger's Stickles Glitter Glue is the perfect way to add the twinkle and dimension of glitter to your projects without the shedding. Follow along as Lauren Bergold uses Stickles in several ways to create a sublime and sparkly celebration of Spring in card form!

Instructions

Spring is frost and flowers; sunshine and rain; warm, bright days and cozy, chilly nights. It's my favorite season, and I've tried to capture some of its beauty in today's card.

Step 1: Stamp the large rose cluster from the Simon Hurley create Butterfly Kisses Stamp Set in clear Emboss It Ink and sprinkle on Ranger White Embossing Powder. Shake off the excess and return to jar. Use a small Angled Brush, if necessary, to remove any stray powder. Melt the powder with Ranger's Heat It Craft Tool. Allow the image to cool completely before proceeding.

Step 2: Smoosh Ranger's Magenta Hue Archival Ink Pad onto your craft sheet or a plastic-coated surface. Add a few drops of 91% Isopropyl Alcohol to the ink, then pick up with a brush and paint the flowers. Use less diluted ink (or a second coat) around the edges, centers and anywhere the petals are folded over... this is where there would be shadows. (Alternatively, place a few drops of each selected color of Archival Reinker into a palette and dilute with Alcohol; then paint in the way described.)

Step 3: Using the same method as above, paint the leaves and stems with Emerald Green Archival, taking care not to mix the green into any areas of Magenta which are still wet. Allow the image to dry completely before proceeding.

Step 4: Cut out the rose cluster with the coordinating Butterfly Kisses Die Set or with scissors. Use a small brush to apply Hibiscus Stickles to the flowers; and a mix of Hibiscus and Wine Cellar to the places where the shadows/darker pink tones are. Add Garden State Stickles to the leaves, concentrating on the areas with veins. Set the flowers aside and allow to dry completely.

Step 5: Print out and laminate the Stickles and Liquid Pearls Template (from the Ranger Project Tutorial called "Stickles Confetti"; found here: https://rangerink.com/blogs/projects/stickles-confetti ) and use it to make five to seven dots of Twinkle Stickles. Set the template aside on a flat surface and allow to dry completely, preferably overnight. When dry, you'll be able to easily peel the dots off and add them to your card.

Step 6: Trim Tim Holtz Distress Woodgrain Cardstock into half inch strips; you'll need ten to twelve. Apply Shadow Grey Archival Ink with a Mini Ink Blending Tool and Domed Foam, all around the edges. If desired, make one long side of each strip darker and inkier; then place all of the strips consistently in the next step to give the impression of a shadow on the lower edge of each.

Step 7: Working on a 4.25" piece of Simon Hurley create Stark White Cardstock, adhere the strips diagonally across the entire square with Wendy Vecchi Perfect Card Adhesive; use an extra strip (without adhesive) as a spacer to keep the distances even. When all the strips are placed in one direction, trim off any bits of Woodgrain that overhang the edges. Then start placing the rest of the strips in the same manner, perpendicular to the first set. When finished, you will have a square panel that looks like the kind of lattice used in gardens.

Step 8: Apply Twinkle Stickles, directly from the bottle, in a thin line along the top edge of all the strips in the second layer of the lattice in Step 7. Set the panel aside on a flat surface and allow to dry completely. When dry, frame the panel on an 1/8" mat of Seagrass Archival.

Step 9: Apply a very soft coat of Sea Grass Archival through the Simon Hurley Flower Power Stencil on a 4"square and a 1.5 x 5.5" strip of Stark White Cardstock. Use a compass or a 3.25" die to cut a circle into the square; save the circular piece for a different project. Ink the edges of both pieces with a slightly darker application of Sea Grass.

Step 10: Stamp the "Thinking of You" sentiment from the Butterfly Kisses set on a scrap of white cardstock in Emerald Archival and trim into a neat flag.

Step 11: Assembly: On a 5.5" square card, add the strip of Seagrass stenciling, just slightly to the lefthand side. Center and adhere the lattice panel, and affix the circle frame to the middle of the lattice. Add the flowers inside the circle, using small pieces of foam tape. Attach the sentiment strip as pictured. Scatter a few of the clear Stickles "dewdrops" you made around the card.

Step 12: Write a message inside the card, address an envelope, and mail it to someone who could use a little pick-me-up!
